The wines produced by Conti Sertoli Salis combine characteristics unique to Valtellina with style, quality, and prestige. We start with carefully-selected grapes from vineyards in the parts of the valley most favoured by soil and climate. We select our grapes according to the ancient concept of cernita a tavolazzo, where every bunch is individually checked and evaluated: only the best will go into our premium wines.

In Valtellina, the majority of the vineyards are planted with Nebbiolo, an ancient grape of Piedmontese origin which, in the land of its birth, is used to produce the famous Barolo wine. We also have a local name for it: Chiavennasca (“of Chiavenna,” one of the larger towns in the area). Other high-value local grapes, grown in much smaller quantities, are the famous Rossola, Pignola, and Brugnola varieties.
